St. Martin Bridge Information

Simpson Bay Lagoon on St Martin is a major port for mega yachts and sailboat charters. The beautiful and highly popular lowlands of the French and Dutch side are connected to the mainland areas by drawbridges in Simpson Bay on the Dutch side and Sandy Ground near Marigot on the French side. We urge all St Martin travelers to keep a schedule of bridge openings. The bridge openings typically cause traffic snarls and nightmarish conditions. Our suggestion is to plan well and avoid being on the road during bridge opening times. Furthermore, the island experiences heavy congestion during morning (8-9AM) and evening (4-6PM) rush hours, we best advise avoiding Cole Bay, Simpson Bay, Marigot and Phillipsburg during these heavy congestion hours.
